Wow – that was quick…. I must have blinked and 2015 is over! I wanted to take a moment or two and recap some of what went on this year at GearSource.
First, we made some changes in our corporate structure that have paid big dividends. I made the decision to flatten the organization and spread the leadership among senior members of our team, and that has worked out incredibly well. We now have Henry running business development, Claudette on top of our Web Tech and Systems, Lenny leading our Operations, Barbara on top of finance and our latest addition, Rebecca, who heads up Marketing. We also added Tom, who is our lead Web Architect, Lisa in Logistics / Customer Support and last but not least, we added Steve who is a master of Business Development in the USA and has high-level knowledge of import and export as well.
I must say, this change has been more positive than I’d have ever expected. Our entire team has gelled together to increase revenue, improve customer service, shorten payment processing times and improve upon virtually every aspect of our business.
As a result, we were able to begin to focus on the growth of our business and even to look at adding other business segments. This year alone, we’ve added www.KartingSource.com – a site dedicated to the racing community, www.GearSourceMexico.com – a Mexican based version of GearSource.com, and just in the past month, we launched our Musical Instruments section – which we expect to grow and become a leader in the massive market for used and b-stock musical instruments, amplification and accessories. In order to facilitate each of these businesses, we’ve brought significant industry knowledge and leadership with ShowCo in Mexico, Mike Maurini with RaceTech Development who heads up Kartingsource.com and finally, 35-year guitar industry veteran, Rob Brown who leads our Musical Instruments development.
Also, in 2015, we were able to welcome many of our respected and loved vendors back into our business. Some left due to our own growing pains, others thought they had found greener grass. In either case, it’s been awesome to re-establish these relationships.
In 2016, we are expecting to completely re-design our site, improve every aspect of our usability, add new (free!!) apps for Vendors and Customers, add 10’s of thousands of new listings with more than 1000 new vendors, establish industry leading “Vendor Tools” to help you make critical selling decisions, and much more.
Bottom line – it’s a GREAT time to get involved with GearSource if you are not already doing business with us. We are really looking forward to expanding our business again in 2016 and hope to see you on board with us for the journey.
Finally, I’d like to wish all of you the Happiest Holidays, Merry Christmas and of course, a very Merry, Safe and Prosperous New Year!
