Today, we successfully brought Barbizon into the fold with Rental-Source.com as a partner banner advertiser. That tells me we’re on the right track, however, in speaking a great deal with Barbizon’s marketing person, Tracy – I found that it was in part due to changes in advertising budgets that are finally trickling into our industry. Every other industry has seen massive re-locations of marketing budgets towards online options. In fact, most of the drop in advertising has been in print or other “conventional” advertising mediums, while, at the same time, Online Advertising – written off for deal several years ago following the Dot Bomb era – has grown rapidly. The Audio and Lighting markets seem to be starting to follow suit which is great. Because Rental-Source.com isn’t a magazine, we may never take ads away from your traditional sound or lighting magazines, however, we sure have a lot to offer someone who’s looking for change. First, because Rental-Source is an industry “community” where rental companies, and users are basically looking for, or offering gear – we’ve always got the right people lurking. Additionally, we plan to continue “tweeking” until we end up with the best Production Forum in our industry. This will bring in 1000 or more users each day and will again add to the community feel therefore bringing users to our advertisers who may not be available with other ad mediums.Basically, what I am saying is that Barbizon is slightly ahead of the curve in this industry and has proven that by making a sharp move towards advertising online with Rental-Source.com. I’ve known Barbizon’s Pres – Jonathan Resnick for a long time. He’s always been smarter than most of us so it’s no surprise to me that he’s proving that once again here. Way to go Jonathan – and sorry about them JETS!
